Ikat is a reservation technique where parts of the yarn are saved during dyeing. When the dyed yarn is then used in the fabric, patterns are formed on the finished fabric. In Japan, the technology is called kasuri and very advanced patterns are created here: a single roll of fabric can contain more than one million individually colored thread segments.
